FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What are the differences between counseling and the coaching workshop?
Counseling is meant to treat a specific, diagnosable condition, and often uses unpacking/processing of past to ease suffering in the present. Erin is a strength-based clinician, that uses elements and skills from CBT and DBT. The coaching workshop is designed to improve the present and future quality of life while providing a framework for working toward goals.
  • Are either covered by insurance?
Coaching is not covered by insurance. It is an investment you are making in yourself and your quality of life, but it is not recognized by insurance companies at this time. Erin is not currently accepting insurance for her counseling practice. She operates through direct pay by check/cash/credit card/HSA, and can provide documentation that may gain you “out of network” reimbursement from your insurance company.
  • Why telehealth?
Erin operates primarily on a telehealth basis at this time. Telehealth is an online platform that can be used for remote therapy. Erin uses a HIPAA compliant software that allows you to access therapy from anywhere within Massachusetts or New York, the states in which Erin holds licenses. Telehealth increases access to care without sacrificing privacy or quality of experience.
  • How does a video call work?
You will receive a link in an e-mail, that takes you to a secure video messaging site. The site has an app available for download, but no special equipment is needed other than a camera and internet access.
